XP Security Center - I'm Stumped

IE will not let me surf. Where I'm stumped is in getting her Windows XP Home Edition to take on updates. Why didn't a full system scan detect that it was on my computer? Maybe it has something to do with my "copy" of XP... his comment is here

Yup, I always reboot after modifying registry. btw, the log lists it up twice, so make sure you double check the list to see if it's gone. FirstRunDisabled is set.

But, when going to the Security Center window(via the control panel), the Automatic Updates is showing to be either Off or Disabled(I forget the exact terminology).
