He's going to have to find these drivers and install them anyways, so it would probably be quicker to just run SFC /SCANNOW to replace the missing OS files. If you click the icon for a secondary monitor, the Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor check box must be selected to change the settings for that monitor.
