As long as your mobo supports both IDE and SATA and still has a connection for each, then you're fine. That fact that you are getting that far indicates that the hard disk is being detected (although C: could be mapping to a different drive such as your DVD). My system came up with the error "NTLDR missing" I did some settings in BIOS couldn't resolve the issue, Also tried to reinstall windows XP but HDD was been recognised in I have it set to ATA otherwise it BSODs when loading Windows XP 64 bit disk.
